My name is Lesley Marie and I LOVE hosting house concerts! For the past 5 years I've run a small concert series in my home and it has been a fantastic journey. What's a house concert? Exactly as it sounds, I invite a musician to my home to play a concert, and then invite a group of my friends to come and hear them play. The hat is passed (with a price suggested) and everyone leaves happy, the audience has just experienced music up-close and personal, and the musician has played for a listening audience.
A few years ago Corin Raymond released the album "There Will Always Be A Small Time". The title track acknowledges the changing face of the music scene- small venues, people's homes and tiny events are becoming the bread and butter of the working musician. Here at Northumberland Small Time we want to connect audiences with amazing events. To read more about what the "Small Time" means, check out Corin's liner notes.
In the past two years I've noticed a number of other people in the area starting to host concerts and other amazing events in their homes and small halls. In effort to avoid double booking an evening in a small community, most of us are great at communicating when we are planning to host a show. Our hope at Northumberland Small Time is to create a schedule of events in our community to make it easier for folks to plan and /or attend these great shows and other events. Sure, there'll still be shows and activities booked at the same time, but at least we'll know and will be able to market accordingly so the hard working artists can get the audiences they rightly deserve.
Northumberland Small Time is dedicated to connecting audiences with "Small Time" arts events in the Northumberland area that have "low to no budget" for promotions.
